When you leave school you understand that the time to choose your future profession, your future life has become. It’s not easy to make the right choice of a job. I have known for long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.

What do I want to be when I leave school? It’s very important question for me. A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about what science or field of industry to specialize in. It’s difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds jobs to which I might be better suited. A coupe of years ago I wanted to become a doctor, you know I wanted to help people who had problems with health. Then I wanted to become a policeman, then a spaceman, I even wanted to become a professional football player. But all of them now are in the past; they were like children’s dreams and nothing more. Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I’ll go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I’ll do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.

I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents mustn’t make their children choose the thing they like (parents like). Children must do it themselves. Because they must love the thing they do, believe that people need them and their job will bring them more pleasure.

What do you want to be when you grow up? We have heard this question many times during our school years. Perhaps, it was difficult for us to give a definite answer earlier. But now we understand that the time to choose our future profession has come. Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Centuries ago there were only a few jobs: people were farmers, bakers, butchers or carpenters. Today there are thousands of different kinds of jobs, and new ones are constantly appearing. No wonder that it is not an easy thing to make the right choice.

When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. There are highly paid jobs and low-paid jobs. For example, a businessman, a president or a film star, are highly paid jobs. A worker, a doctor or an engineer, are low-paid jobs. I think everybody wants to earn as much money as possible. Training, promotional prospects and conditions should be also taken into account.

On the other hand, it’s good when you get satisfaction from your job. It is very important to choose a profession that suits your interests. In my opinion, a job should be interesting and socially important. Some jobs are considered to be more suitable for men and others for women. For example, the professions of secretary or nurse are more suitable for women. A lifeguard or a pilot are more likely the jobs for men. You should also decide whether you want to work indoors or outdoors.

To make the right choice, you should take into account your traits of character. It goes without saying that to become a good doctor you must be patient, caring and kind. Teacher’s work requires love for children, profound knowledge of subjects, and the ability to explain. A secretary has to be efficient and careful in order to do her work quickly and accurately. Salespeople need to be friendly and persuasive, to get people buy their products.

There are so many people who influence us in choosing our occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in our choices.

My father works for an international company as a managing director. It is a highly paid job and it offers a lot of opportunities. You can travel abroad and meet different people. My father is a friendly person and he is easy to talk to. He thinks that I must choose my future profession according to my taste and preferences. I respect him and I want to become a businessman, too.

I have always been interested in economics and I am good at Maths. I have an aptitude for working with people, and I think I’m rather communicative and have good social skills. I have good analytical abilities and I am good at problem-solving. Besides, I am good at English. English has become the standard language for all kinds of international business communications. To know English today is absolutely necessary for every businessman.

To become a successful businessman you should know a lot. So after finishing school I want to enter the university and to study marketing or management. Management deals mainly with people. A manager is a person who directly supervises people in an organization. Managers spend a great deal of time communicating, coordinating and making decisions affecting the daily operations of their organization. Almost everything, a manager does, involves decisions, and in decision-making there is always uncertainty and risk. So managing is a very interesting, but difficult, job.

Marketing deals with market research and commercial activity in general. It involves analyzing business situations, evaluating market opportunities, developing market strategies and controlling their implementation. It is important for a specialist in marketing to be flexible and prepared to make adjustments where necessary, as it is unlikely that any marketing plan will succeed exactly as planned.

I haven’t decided yet what to study. But I still have time to think and to choose.

For example, If you have a talent at Maths and you want your profession to be connected with this subject, you should start studying it very seriously. The same is with other subjects.

Jobs can be attractive or not attractive. Attractive jobs can be creative exciting, popular, prestigious, rewarding. Unattractive jobs are dangerous, boring, messy, tiring and not respected. Different jobs can require travelling a lot, a good imagination physical strength, special training ,working from home and so on.

Of course there are a lot of special books about different professions. I think I am good at Physics, so I think my job can be connected with this subject. I want to be a scientist. It is a very prestigious job. But It is very difficult to enter a university. If you do not have money and if you are not a genius, you will never enter a good university or an institute.

To sum up I would like to say that choosing my future career is a very important step in my life. I suppose that my facilities combined with knowledge will be quite enough to succeed in my work.

It’s rather difficult sometimes to choose a career and to speak about the future profession. I’d say it’s because a lot may change in our life in a moment. There are lucky people who chose their profession in childhood and since that time have been doing everything possible to acquire proficiency. But they are few.

If we are not indifferent to our future, while thinking about the future career we are to pay attention to a number of important things. We should determine our abilities and inclinations. Then we should analyse job prospects. We must know whether the profession we have chosen will guarantee good living conditions and give promotion. We must be sure we’ll avoid unemployment or at least will be able to apply our knowledge and skills in other fields of human activity. In short, we are to decide what we are going to do in our life and-feel satisfied, but not bored or disappointed.

When I was a fifth-former I dreamt of becoming a doctor. I wanted to be a surgeon and treat people and save their lives. I admired the courage and generosity of surgeons. But then I noticed I can’t bare the sight of blood, I’m not able to deal with surgical instruments. And I gave up this idea.

At that time I realized that I was fond of English. I was always good at English at school. And when we got acquainted with the English and American literature, the lessons of British and American Studies I understood that I want to have a perfect command of the English language and become a good specialist in English.

So I do my best to master the language because I have made up my mind to apply to the Linguistic University and become either a teacher or an interpreter. I haven’t chosen it yet. Both professions are interesting and necessary in our society. Perhaps, I’ll keep our family tradition and become a teacher of English. But I’ll think about it tomorrow if I enter the University.

When a young man starts to think about a future career, he imagines a very glorious picture. But a person gets older he faces real life with its problems. After graduation from the Institute young specialists don’t have many variants. The most common one is to get work as a manager.

As for me, I don’t want to spend all the time in a stuffy office full of computers and printers. I believe that I will never impose unnecessary goods, compose boring reports, and be on phone all day. I understand that modern life could be more difficult without managers, but this kind of work not for me. We have one life and we ought to spend it wisely. I’m sure that in the future I’ll ask myself what I’ve achieved. I believe that any person is born to fulfil some goals, which nobody else, but himself, could define. So as sooner I define my goals as happier I will be.

I’m leaving school at the end of the spring and I always think about an educational institution which I need to choose. I think the ideal option for me will be any Choreographic Academy. I have been dancing all since I was five and I can’t imagine my future life without choreography. Dancing is the best way to express myself, to capture my emotions and thoughts to people. I adore dancing. When I’m engrossed in creation, I don’t think about my school problems and everyone around. I call it “inspiration”. I feel that a real connection between me and the Universe. So I just pick up some ideas and express them through dance using my body and emotions.

If I tell my friends or parents about this plan, perhaps they will say that I am aspiring to be famous. By no means, fame is a heavy burden. There is an important difference between the desire to be a famous artist and the desire not to be forgotten dancer. I don’t think the people of art are exceptional. If an architect creates buildings that will stand for many years, people will be thankful for his great work. If the writer’s novels are read in three hundred years, it will be wonderful. If a dancer’s creation will be remembered next generations, he will live in human hearts.

Any career should make the human who has chosen it satisfied. Otherwise, working routine will be an excruciation and nothing else. I really don’t want to write reports and answer the phone sitting in the office all day. I want my profession to make me happy, and I want to see happy people around me.

Когда молодой человек думают о будущей карьере, он представляет очень славную картину. Но как только человек становится старше, он сталкивается с реальной жизнью и её проблемами. После выпуска из Института молодой специалист не имеет много вариантов. Чаще всего он получает работу менеджера.

Если я расскажу своим друзьям и родителям о своём плане, возможно, они скажут, что я стремлюсь стать знаменитым. Без сомнения, известность тяжёлое бремя. Существует важное различие между желанием стать знаменитым художником и желанием не стать забытым танцором. Я не думаю, что люди искусства необыкновенные. Если архитектор создаёт здания, которые простоят многие годы, люди будут благодарны ему за работу. Если романы писателя будут читать через три сотни лет, это будет замечательно. Если творчество танцора будут помнить следующими поколениями, он продолжит жизнь в сердцах людей.

Любая карьера должна сделать человека, который её выбрал, удовлетворенным. С другой стороны, работа может стать пыткой и больше ни чем другим. Я действительно не хочу писать отчёты и отвечать на телефонные звонки, просиживая в офисе весь день. Я хочу, чтобы моя профессия сделала меня счастливым, и я хочу видеть счастливых людей вокруг себя.

Сейчас я думаю о вступительных экзаменах. Они не очень простые. Я верю, что моя мечта стать великим танцором станет правдой, и я смогу поделиться удовольствием от танцев с другими людьми.

A good advertisement is really an art object.

I strongly believe that if I am persistent and ambitious, everything becomes possible. However, I‘m absolutely convinced that without good grades at school the success in one’s future career is out of the question.

There are many interesting and noble professions. I want to be a doctor. It is an interesting profession.

I understand that it is necessary to study a lot to become a doctor. I also understand that this profession requires great responsibility because it deals with the most precious thing that a person has — with his health.

My mother and my grandfather are doctors. My grandfather is working as a surgeon in a hospital. I have been several times at the hospital and spent some time watching him working.

His main task is to operate on the people. After each operation he takes care of patients until they are recovered.

He listens very attentively to what his patients tell him. He is always kind and attentive to his patients. They feel it and believe him, and it makes his work easier. I know that he wants to see all his patients able — bodied and I notice that he is happy when his patient is recovered.

My grandfather can also help if somebody catches a cold or has a fever. My grandfather told me a lot of true stories about doctors and their profession.

I love and respect my grandfather and want to become a doctor as well.

Plans for future is a problem that worries not only me, but my friends, classmates, parents and teachers. The reason is that at the age of 17 we have to make a very important choice in our life – the choice of a profession. On the one hand, I’m adult enough to have an opinion of my own about what I’m interested in and what I’m good at. On the other hand, at this age we lack life experience and our desires sometimes don’t coincide with our possibilities. That’s why it’s very important to have somebody to give us a piece of advice. Such people are our parents, teachers and friends.

As for me, I want to be an economist. I like to read books of economics, research articles and analyze them. Nowadays this profession has become one of the most useful, modern and interesting. Also, I want to study economics as I’m very interested in current economic processes both in our country and in other countries. It’s not a secret that our country (Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Kazakhstan) is now through a difficult periods of times. That’s why it’s very important for our country to have efficient economists to raise our economy at a high level.

I hope that I’ll be a good economist. Like many other people I would like to spend a year abroad working as an economist. It would give me an opportunity to borrow the experience and to see the world.

Что каса­ет­ся меня, то я хочу быть эко­но­ми­стом. Мне нра­вит­ся читать кни­ги по эко­но­ми­ке, изу­чать ста­тьи и ана­ли­зи­ро­вать их. Сего­дня эта про­фес­сия ста­ла одной из самых полез­ных, совре­мен­ных и инте­рес­ных. I’m convinced that today everyone worries much about the problems of the future alongside with the problems of getting along with their family and friends. Of course, it is not simple to choose an occupation at my age. It is not an easy to choose a profession out of more than two thousand existing in the world.

We are well aware of the situation in our society and we realize that the situation around forces us to do well at school. It gives you a goal for working hard. The role played by school in our life is hard to overestimate. It teaches us many subjects and other important things, helps to discover special talents. I personally believe that a young person can better approach his future if he manages to widen his outlook while at school and the teachers expand to great extent the boundaries of our world. For sure, our minds should be enriched with a decent level of knowledge in the vast branches of science and humanities: maths, physics, foreign languages.

As for me, I like languages, and I consider that the choice of my occupation will be connected with them. I’d like to study languages not only because I found myself extremely keen on foreign places, culture and traditions. Nowadays, English is to be learned because it’s already become the international language, pushing aside French and German.

Nearly 50 % of all the companies in Europe communicate in English. 80 % of all information in the world’s in English. It’s the language of the United Nations. The latest ideas in medicine and science appear in special international magazines also in English. That’s because both of these subjects are now completely international, for doctors and scientists everywhere are trying to answer the same questions. Every pilot and ship’s captain has to speak English. It’s the language of the sky and the sea.

So, to be honest, I haven’t decided whom to become yet, still I know that my profession will be connected with the English language.

I have known for long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.

What do I want to be when I leave school? It’s very important question for me. A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about what science or field of industry to specialize in. It’s difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds jobs to which I might be better suited. A coupe of years ago I wanted to become a doctor, you know I wanted to help people who had problems with health. Then I wanted to become a policeman, then a spaceman, I even wanted to become a professional football player.

But all of them now are in the past; they were like children’s dreams and nothing more. Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I’ll go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I’ll do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.

I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents mustn’t make their children choose the thing they like (parents like). More and more people realize that every educated person should know a foreign language. That’s why I’m going to become an English teacher. I liked English when we first started learning it, and it is still one of my favourite subjects. There are many English authors and they are so different and so interesting. We have had some Shakespeare and other British writers in Russian in classes of literature and I would like to read them all in the original. I will try to enter the department of foreign languages at the University.

Today, after Russia has joined the Bologna process, one can study 4 years to get a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years more for a Master’s. There are also more opportunities to study abroad, for example to spend one semester in a foreign University which is especially good when you study languages.
